Different uses of motion graphics

Idents are the opening sequence to either a film or a television series. Reaching out to the audience so they get a better understanding of what they’re watching. Marvel and DC film studios have a great way of expressing this. As their opening sequence is their logo of the company. This is typically known as it is such a worldwide logo, and is most well known by most people.

Another great opening sequence to a television show is Wayward Pines. This reflects the whole story of the show, without giving away any important details or “spoilers”. They reflect the show of a model town in companion with little plastic figures of civilians, after the shot is being viewed by a few seconds, the buildings and the filter turns slightly old and rusty. Like it’s been left there over time. This is exactly what the television show is about. Idents show the audience immediately what show they’re about to watch.

Paramount reach out to the audience on different levels, by using 3D elements and by making their ident connect with the film. The Transformers film are a great example by when each star moves towards the mountain, by the way they turn into place, the diegetic sound replicates the sound of the Transformer. Also, the way Paramount start their ident, the stars start flying from afar which then are lead to fly past you, with the paramount font coming from behind the audience, which gives this ident a 3D affect.

DreamWorks works really well with their animation. By how they have the man sitting on the moon going fishing, soon the moon appears to be the beginning letter of their production name. Also by the way you see the bait on the fishing pole hit the water and seeing the water ripples, just these little parts of the ident is what makes it affective towards an audience. They don't just state their name, they state a rounded idea of what a dream could be. The ident connotes with the name of the production by how high and cloudy it is and how there’s a man fishing on the moon, which is a very dreamlike state.
