The film's popularity is mainly from DC fans, and the popularity could be measured by how many Suicide Squad comics have been sold within the last year, or in all time.

FMP production diary #1

A script wouldn't be needed for this piece as it's an abstract art piece, no dialogue will be used within this short. I would need to create a live storyboard and annotate it in order to know what i'll be shooting for the final piece.

As my actress isn't from the location for shooting, we need to organise dates and time where she is free in order to shoot for the first and second time.

We had to split into groups where we had to discus our own FMP ideas to each other, together we discussed a budget for each FMP, whereas mine came to £0 as everything that needs to be filmed is walking distance, there will also be no props used within production as everything being used would be nature. All the equiptment used will be mine which would be a Canon 700d, using the camera handheld on all shots.

This was the schedule for the final shoot after the live storyboard/ rough cut.

We arranged to meet on the 17th April and shot all day from 12pm until 7pm because it was getting close to sunset. I wanted to film during daylight.

FMP production diary #2

I chose to film early was to create a live storyboard for my FMP, see what shots I like and what shots i didn't like.

Also as I filmed all day, from morning until sunset, i preferred sunrise light more than sunset as i want the contrast to be high, rather than everything being orange. As my piece is meaning to wake the audience up and how they perceive morning sunlight. This would be better to use rather than using sunset.

12th April - 10:16am

Discussed the strategy towards creating my FMP. I’m going to reshoot, what I like and don’t like from creating the live-storyboard.

Risk Assessment

Very limited risks would take place throughout the shoot, as It’s based down a country road and a park.

Risk one - Filming down a road, not necessarily busy but can be as there is the football pitch on the road, which would be dangerous from cars coming back and forth from the football pitch. To avoid getting hit by a car, we only shot one shot which was roughly five seconds long to avoid using that area for a long time.

Risk two - From filming within the park, another risk would be possible rain, this would result in equipment becoming broken or the crew (myself) and actor (Sophie) to slip and injure ourselves. To prevent this from happening I looked on the weather and to film on a dry sunny day.

Audience

As this is an abstract creative short to be shown in exhibitions, there is no specific audience. To encourage more people to visit the exhibition I created a horror trailer of my FMP to bring horror lovers to the exhibition.

From editing my FMP I used different shots ranging from first to second person to engage the audience watching Sunshine Girl so they can relate to how she feels towards sunlight and optimism.

Each clip used isn’t long as I managed to cut each clip towards the beat of the song playing in the background. I also cut out clips and only used audio from the clips, so subtle breathing and birds is heard within Sunshine Girl to enthuse how the girl is feeling and her breathing in the fresh air of the fields.

During the beginning of Sunshine Girl it starts of soft and slow and calm down the audience while watching, then when the music starts to become more rapid, this engages the audience as they wouldn’t get bored while watching as the music is fast paced and the editing styles used within the short. As each clip is edited differently to compliment the music from towards the end when each clip becomes around one to two second long to match the beat and towards the very end when it cuts out and cuts back in, creating different editing styles and techniques to every minute of Sunshine Girl is different.

From using the title towards the end of Sunshine Girl, that was used within Aftereffect and exported as a .MOV file and imported under Premiere Pro with a transparent background.

Idea one

What it if was a choice? short film crosses over the documentary if being gay was a choice and see it would affect on the world?

It’s not a choice, it’s never been a choice. **** views, **** opinions, **** judgments.

If people finally accept that it’s the way people are, would there still be judgments? but there’s always got to be two sides of everything, to balance it out. Where there’s good, there’s always evil, whether there’s light, there’ll always be a shadow. If you love something, someone’s going to hate it, or them or whatever it is. To keep this world at peace, everything needs to be balanced. So then, if people don’t understand that it’s not a choice, why would there be riots, fights, abuse and so much evil, just from someone being attracted to the same gender. It doesn’t make sense.
My mum thinks it’s a choice. She’s one of those narrow minded people who can’t understand, why should I live my life the way she does? I don’t want to have sex the way she likes it. I want it the way like it, and that’s with a boy. Not a girl.
She goes, When are you going to grow out of the phase? found a girl yet? Anyone who you’ve got your eye on?

She just doesn’t understand, but yes mum, there is someone who i’ve got an eye on, but i have no clue if he’s the same as I. That’s the hard bit about being who I am. when I find someone attractive or someone I really love, I’ll have no idea. No idea at all. Nowadays, It’s all about Grindr, or Tinder, but i’m not into that. Why would I want to put myself out there, only to be offered money or sex or other stuff I’m not comfortable with. I don’t want to be pushed over, I don’t want to have sex with someone and then they leave me. I’m not into that. That’s what I think anyway, I don’t care if people don’t agree. I am who I am and no one can change that. Not even myself.

Blank screen, while Toby starts talking, lots of abstract shots of him walking along, using mirror filter and using cold filter, be mainly shooting his feet, playing on swings etc. While the end of the monologue it would cut to his face looking steadily into the camera.

Film would be 5 - 10 minutes long, no less or longer with at least five pages of script in celtx

Idea two

Use cinematography and photography elements to create deep meaning. Make them really think about what they are and who they are

Mainly focused on what I think about the world and what has happened in my life that I think is significant

Use high contrast as everything will be bright and add a noir filter. Similar but not actual.

IDEAS:

-Feeling fresh air and how it makes you feel
-Being trapped indoors and wanting to outside
-How the world explores everything other than exploring ourselves
-People need to be treated equally and no one should make themselves higher than anyone else
-How time can change people, their personality and looks
-The fact people are connected through social media and technology but everybody is silent and no ones talks to anyone. Only through media
-Facing mental illnesses and how they improve
-Being in a big and loving family and how everyone cares for each other
-Going back to old times where people knock on peoples doors to actually get to meet someone
-How music can change peoples moods and their feelings - how they reflect on music.
-How people keep their emotions inside when they dream about telling someone how they feel - both hate and love.


Lots of abstract shots with a still frame but the camera being shaken with a lot of zooms and close ups on people, their skin, and textures.

Idea three - Sunshine Girl

From placing together film and photography, would bring out an abstract piece underlining happiness in all of it’s forms through following this young girl’s life.

No dialogue would be used within this text, only imagery so the audience make their own perception on what it means to them by how it makes them feel.

Light-hearted and happy is what I aim to make out of this new project.

This wouldn't be a short film to be shown on screens at home, I'll see my abstract short being shown in museums, art galleries and so on.
 

The main story behind this would be on how I feel about the world and how I perceive on it. Without using myself, I chose to use a young girl which would reflect on myself.

Synopsis:

Following in her footsteps, witnessing her events, and of course underlining her optimism. This young girl understands what it takes for her to be content in the wake of nature, physics, and what lies behind it.

Why I chose Sunshine Girl

I felt like this idea would've best represented me. I wanted to create something positive with an effect of inspiration while also capturing the creative abstract piece. I wanted to try something different that I haven't seen before, by combining two of my favourite hobbies which are film making and photography, this gave me the inspiration for this short.
Another big reason for choosing Sunshine girl, was because it would've been an affordable production, while also not worrying about distance of locations, actors and other issues that would've occurred from shooting a narrative piece.

Primary Research

I carried out a survey and found out what people's favourite consoles are, their favourite genres of games and how often they play them. Also finding out if they play games regularly or not.

I studied that the PlayStation 4 is the most popular console within my group of research.

First person shooters were the seconds most favourited genres, while following first was RolePlaying games.

I studied that people play games regularly on average four to five times a week, whenever they have free time.

Secondary Research

From watching an interview called “E3 - Weird gamer guy (Original)” on YouTube I studied that peoples favourite types of games were RolePlaying and Strategic. People are excited about games that they would wait on average three hours to queue up for a new game.

From studying this questionnaire, I’ve learned that factual shows are a big part of people’s lives, as they enjoy them because they learn new things each day and understand what’s happening in the news. This helped us create our show GNN (Gaming news now) as it’ll teach people different facts about the games and also tell the audience when new releases will be around. So we’re updating them on games.

As I’ll be directing this show. It is important for me to make sure the cameras are set up correctly, lighting is good and the set is placed where it’s supposed to be while also making sure the camera know where they’re facing and when they need to interact.

SCRIPT

Charlie: Hello and welcome to the first instalment of Gaming News Now. Today we will be discussing some of the major news being put forward in Gaming.

Charlie: The biggest story this week is the announcement from Xbox to start working towards Cross-Platform play. This will allow a whole range of gaming fans, (Xbox, PS, PC) to be able to buy a range of games and be able to play with everyone, no matter what they own.

Charlie: Everyone is okay with the idea of Xbox and PlayStation working together, but people aren’t quite sure how PC players will be able to integrate with the consoles. What do you guys think about the idea of Cross-Platform?

Charlie: As the moment we have been told that it is only Rocket League, and small indie games that are in development for this step. So we could be seeing gaming come to a whole new level within the next 3 years. Profits will go up for the gaming industry and it will mean a lot more people being open to the idea of involving the opposite platform.

The likeliness of this happening for the AAA titles, such as, CoD, Fifa, GTA, Destiny, being open for everyone. This won’t happen for the next few years as they want to let people get used to the idea first, therefore leaving it until the next set of consoles are released.

Charlie: The next news story is about the HTC Vive. Everyone knows about the Oculus Rift as the first Virtual Reality Gaming Headset. But now other companies have released their own, upgraded versions. For example, the HTC Vive and the PlayStation VR.

The Vive costs around £350, whereas the Oculus Rift costs £419. The quality of the Rift has been bad over the years, whereas the new releases of the Vive and VR have shown a full 1080P HD Quality spectrum. The rift has also been known to make the users feel very nauseous when they are using it for a long time whereas the other two have not shown these side effects. Would you pay more money for something that’s been well tested or less money for better quality?

VT

For our VT we’ll just be interviewing people about games and what games they like. It’ll be 60 seconds interviewing three different people while having twenty seconds on each person.

They’ll be three different shots of the person standing outside a game shop such as GAME, Cex, HMV, Gadget etc. The person will stand to the left of the screen facing someone behind the camera.

Gemma, Charlie, Shanice, Chantelle and I created a video based Podcast which explores and discovers facts and secrets about games the public have not yet discovered. The duration will be ten minutes with a video transmission of at least 30 seconds exploring the facts about gaming and the statistics.
There will be three guests on the show, non of which are presenters as it is all equally based, as they're going to be discussing different types of games and also debating on games. Using facts based online from secondary research while also using primary research.
The main topic will be talking and sharing views on recent news stories that have something to do with games and how the impact of other peoples lives. Exploring the rumours and understanding the differences from how people can cope with violence etc.
There will be only three cameras on set as one will be based in the middle viewing all the guests. Another on the left viewing the right and middle guest, while the other on right viewing the left and middle guest. That way, everybody is shown. The middle guest will open the show with the title and they will also end the show on the positive note.

My own company name

My own company name would have to represent what I intend in creating e.i corporate video’s for mass amount of unique companies for their employees.

The company name would be Imaginatio Production as it’s Latin for Imagination, which would be relevant because all of our production videos would all be made with aspiration and imagination.

Our company's mission statement would be:

To impress company’s aspirations with our imagery and ambition for us to assist them for their future of the company.

Limitations

A big limitation was the budget that was spent on travel. I had to work extra shifts at work in order for myself to be able to afford the travel. London Gateway was a construction site, so the safety of staff was in our care and their protection. We did this by insuring them they’re wearing the correct equipment for safety in the construction site.

We managed by communicating with the client effectively and fluently so we reached their needs and the needs of their health and safety. We organised a timetable for us to interview members of the company who have an important role towards London Gateway and how they keep the profession of being sustainable.

We grew a strong relationship with the client by emailing them regularly and getting every question answered and vice versa. Emma was our main client in the business, she organised the timetables and saw who was available to be interviewed for their corporate video. Emma updated us on changes towards the appointments and gave us a warm welcome once we arrived at London Gateway.
