One of the biggest expectations within the film, is Jared Leto’s joker, and see if he can live up to the twisted psycho mastermind Joker. Another big character within Suicide Squad is Harley Quinn, Joker’s former partner. Her expectations from the audience are really high, but from the trailers and the official website, she’s reaching to her audience's expectations and will bring excitement towards the film just to see Harley Quinn come to life.
The main idea of Suicide Squad is collect the worst supervillains so the government can use them for dangerous missions which could lead to death.
The film is marketed towards different audiences by releasing different trailers each matched to different demographic groups and different genre’s so it can relate and interest as many people as they can. Also by using different posters from the cast, the character’s symbols and just the joker by itself. Different posters and trailers increase the audience as they change parts of the film which would match different types of audiences needs and wants.
The main fan based from Suicide Squad is DC comic lovers. From distributing the trailers around youtube, facebook and all social media platforms, the fan base has increased, from action genre lovers, to superhero lovers. They’re mainly targeting DC comic fans as Suicide Squad has a lot of famous DC super villains working together and clashing together from different comic books.
Producers got feedback from their audiences, by other fans creating videos of reactions to the trailer, so the producers could watch that and get their feedback. They’ll also get feedback from looking at the comments on their trailer videos. Reviews from Suicide squad would effect the film massively, as it hasn’t been released yet, there are only trailers and fan based theories towards the film. Also from hearing word-of-mouth, people could push down their opinions and convince you not to like the film, which would spread the producers could lose out on sales and audience fan base. This could create a reputation and badly made, for example, the actors don’t play the roles well, the comics are better than the film or that the film doesn’t explain enough, and even the joker can’t reach out to audiences expectations because he is a major part of the film.
